The Lord is the hope and strength of His people. The Lord has never chosen anyone He’s not interested in. He has given His unreserved hope and strength to His chosen ones. Whatever might be your source of worries or point of hopelessness is non-existing when the most high is your team leader and backer. He has never led a defeated team neither then, not now nor would there be any in the future. No matter how closed those assailant might be the Lord say
20 We put our hope in the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in you alone.
(NLT Psalm 33:20-22)
God has wholeheartedly cared for, and about you. You are never alone. He expected you to do same for people around you. Your parents are one of such people. God has used them to give you life which is the first and greatest wealth, any human could ever craved for; hope and strength. He's calling on you that though He (God) remained hope and strength to the whole universe.
Your Parents are source through which God granted you access to be a presently living being. God is keeping you alive every now and then but your parents is the link through which God deposited His Al-mightiness to make you a possible realities. That is why you could be conceived, delivered, christened and went through all sort of upbringing metamorphosis.

Samson, son of Manoah, the last judge of Israel. (Judge 13:2-3) was a mighty man of valour. But before he could be seen or known as human weak or mighty; God contacted his parents first even our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of the most High God earthly parents' were contacted before He was given to us in order for him to safe and rescued us; an everlasting hope and strength from this sinful world.
If God didn't abandoned parentage for whatever excuse(s) Why should you?. Don't abandon your parents for any reason. They're your source of hope and livelihood through God the creator.
But how could you make the Lord your strength and hope?
By catering for the old and the less privileged around you, love them unconditionally and you must look after your parents in their old age.
Give generously to those whose situational needs are just a mere modicum from what the most high has given you.
35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:35-40 (NKJV)
If God has deliberately made you a caretaker by given you more than you could consumed in a decade why don't you as well deem it fit to care for others?. Do not make your perishable wealth your burden. Instead, cast it upon the Lord, for HE cares for you
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22
In all these the Lord still remained your hope and strength.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed,
for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 NIV
